RE: Welcome to TortoiseForum.org !

Hello all,

My name is Claudia, and as of this past Sunday, I became a new Sulcata mama.

I've always loved turtles, and Sulcatas have are one of my favorites.

I got Hall and Oates (any 80's fans?) a few days ago from a friend. Just started doing some research on the diet, substrates, etc.

Have many questions, which I'll post in the proper thread.

Anyhow, happy to be here, with all the enthusiasts!

Very New to the tortie World

Hi I am Myssie and I am considering adopting a tortoise. I live in Ontario Canada and wondered if you have any suggestions as to which tortiose I should consider. I want to do as much research as possible before I make any decisions. I would like to keep him in an outdoor habitat and hibernate him for the winters. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Myssie

Welcome to the forum Claudia and Myssie :)

Myssie you might want to consider a Russian or Hermanns tortoise if your planning on hibernating.

Welcome to the forum Claudia Congratulations on your new little one :)
Welcome to the forum Myssie,
I live in Montreal, I have a Hermann tortoise but he does not hibernate, I am not an expert enough to make him hibernate. If you find a Hermann in Ontario, could you let me know where please, they are very hard to find in Montreal. I would love to have a Russian too though, they are easier to find and they are sooo cute :D

Hi Dan. Welcome!!! I'm fairly new to the forum (last year) and to having a tort.
Rico is a desert tortoise and quite young. He's so much fun to have around. He is JUST coming out of hibernation right now. The kids and I are quite excited to see him (her?) again. I'm in Tucson, AZ. Where are you located?
Cheers,
Stacy

Hi, Everyone!

I have a Sulcata desert tortoise named Fred. He is very sweet. I think he is about 4 or 5 years old. He is 13 inches long and weighs about 9-10 pounds.
