Good afternoon everyone!

Neighbours are going in July! Hurrah!!!!!!!

Natrah
Good! Just hope whoever else moves in will be a better neighbour. Also hope @Chefdenoel10 neighbour problem resolves very soon as well.
Natrah I wonder if your musician friend might enjoy you playing your music like you did for your dad? Music is soothing & doesn’t require so much concentration as a conversation.

Good evening everyone!

I've had quite a good day starting with my neighbours issues. Yesterday I sent an email to the estate agents/landlords about noise in the night and I sent another this morning after hearing a door being shut at 1.20 am. Before leaving to go out I checked my emails and there was one from the landlords saying they have been given notice to leave in July so please be patient. This could be as a result of a complaint that I made a couple of weeks ago followed by the possibility that another phoned after I gave them the landlord's phone number last week but anyway the end is in sight.

My trip to Hadleigh Rare Breeds Centre at Hadleigh Castle Country Park was made all the more relaxing although I forgot to bring my packed lunch. The photos below show the centre and there were some very mean rams wanting to get the food that I had bought rather than sharing with the ewes and lambs! The other photo is a view of Leigh and Southend pier from Hadleigh Castle. I forgot to say that whilst I had some lunch from Lidl and aerobatic team of bi-planes flew over on their way to an airshow somewhere in Kent.

The weather was much brighter than my previous trip and I saw:

Butterflies:

Large White
Small White
Orange Tips
Small Heath
Meadow Browns
Gatekeepers
Small Tortoiseshells
Commas
Speckled Woods
Red Admiral

Birds:

All the usual but Angie and Sue when I reached the cafe at Two Tree Island I saw a Sedge Warbler with a juvenile Sedge Warbler and I can't remember the last I saw them here. My mum and nana would have been beside themselves. Oh and another thing I saw was a Yellow Hammer and I could also here Green and Gold Finches.

Sue I could ask about playing the violin in my friend's nursing home.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Natrah -Im so glad you had such a good day-and I'm most impressed with you identifying so many birds and butterflies. It has been quite cold and showery today - though lovely when the sun was out ! Zola didn't go for his walk today, because of the cold wind, but I sat in his room with him for a long time, and he happily pulled at the hem of my trousers for ages ! I have got my computer pretty much sorted out now, and it is wonderful not getting adverts - they kept appearing even between posts on this forum! I was beginning to wonder if I would have to give up writing and reading here, which would be a great shame, as I would lose all my lovely forum friends.
Lots of love to you, Jacky and Angel Daisy, and to all our friends here from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The adverts seem to be increasing on here. I can no longer check the alerts because adverts are all over the drop down box. I don’t know how to get rid of them or even if I can. It certainly spoils the enjoyment of reading posts

I asked about this and appareantly you have to be scrolled at the very top of the page to check the alerts without the ads covering the alerts:

I personally only see about two adverts per thread and only one at a time. I do understand that if the forum is mostly free for users there are bound to be adverts. And when costs rise, they need to get more of them.

Dear Sue,

The adverts miraculously disappeared when I started subscribing to this site. I was getting with seeing adverts about pigs in the middle of the page. I was offered a free first year so I'll see what happens after that.

I do believe that it is part of the subscription, at least in the Platinum tortoise club.

Richard has managed to get my new computer ad free - for the moment - by using Adblocker Plus - but I think I might subscribe to the forum anyway - after all, I have been a member for a very long time for free!
It has been quite cold and intermittently rainy here, and Zola didn't go on his breakwater, but I gave him an extra long stroke to make up for it.
Natrah - we now have quite a group of goldfinches in the garden - we used to buy very expensive Niger seed to encourage them, and that was all they would eat, but now we see that they are eating at the feeders we put out for the other birds as well. Also, the nuthatch comes regularly - probably there are two, but we only ever see one at a time. Unfortunately, we have seen a squirrel and 2 rats around as well!
Love to you, Natrah, and Jacky and Angel Daisy, and all our forum friends from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good morning everyone!

I would have posted yesterday as it was Zola Budds 59th birthday and I wanted our little Zola but I was a bit upset because my former music teacher and friend passed away. This is not my friend who's in a nursing home but another lady who got me through grades 4 to 7 Theory. I still remember how pleased she was when I achieved full marks for grade 4 and she kept reminding everyone about for years later.

Good morning!

I am loaded on a bus with Edward headed to my hometown to see a few high school/sixth form graduations. On Sunday I am leaving to this smaller town where I got a baby sitting job for a week. During that time Edward will be cared for at my parents house.

I remember Zola Budd she always ran in bare feet. I loved athletics & she was a favourite to watch. Sorry to hear about your music teacher. Some people in our past play an important role in shaping our lives that we are not always aware of until we get older & think back, I’m sure she was very proud of your achievements then & now.

Dear Natrah - I'm so sorry to hear about your former teacher. I should think she must have really enjoyed teaching you, as you are obviously very talented.
Zola Budd grew up in South Africa, as I expect you know, and "zola" is the word for quietness in the local language there. So I think it is possible that was why she was called by that name. We knew this already, but one day , a year or two ago, we met a lady who came from South Africa, and who was very excited about his name - she began singing a children's song about ZolaZola, which she had sung at school there,! It was wonderful to hear "his song" ! (it was about children needing to be quiet ! )
It is very wet and windy today, so no breakwater again)
Love from Angie xxxxxxxxx

Dear Natrah and everyone - I have some really good news - the swallows in our carport, who we haven't seen very much at all - must have laid and hatched their eggs without us realising, because Richard heard some cheeping just now (7 pm) coming from the nest area ! ! ! We are so pleased, especially as these are obviously "our swallows " who have returned to our carport - and found it again - after the long journey over land and sea. It seems impossible for little birds to make these journeys every year, and we are very proud and honoured to have them with us again -despite them being rather over-generous with their many "presents" which they leave on the car underneath !
It has been a very wet, windy and cold day, and dark very early too - we have put the heating on for a while, as it' also pretty chilly !
Love to you, dear Natrah, and to Jackie and Angel Daisy, and to all our our forum friends from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

It's been cold, wet and windy here as well and yes the memories did bother me this morning. I just remember coming home from college and telling nana that I had full marks for grade 4 Theory and then mum and my eldest brother appeared. They had been arguing but stopped when I told them about my exam results. When I was teaching my grade 5 Theory pupil today ahead of her exam tomorrow I thought of my friend.

Anyway someone tried to attract my attention with the food bowl:

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: I am picturing those swallows they certainly know who to come to.IMG20250527134450.jpg
