It was quite sunny today, though not as warm, and Richard was able to take Zola on the breakwater again. However, there were rather more people than he liked ( Richard, I mean -Zola doesn't care) A group of Asian tourists came up, and started filming Zola and talking about him very loudly to each other, and stood around for some time. Not once did any of them speak to Richard to ask if it was ok to film Zola - they just completely ignored him - if they didn't speak English, they could still have indicated what they wanted to do, annd thanked him afterwards - they behaved as if he didn't exist - and just talked across him ! He was really cross , as you can imagine. He is normally happy to talk to people about Zola - and has had interesting conversations quite often - he is also very good at talking to children and answering their questions - but has never been treated so rudely as this ! I don't think it will put him off going there, as Zola really enjoys it so much, and it is a particularly good place, with the uneven surface - and usually very few people around, but it was upsetting.
Angie
Dear Angie,
I hope Richard stayed very close to Zola while those rude people were mucking about???
How awful .
He should have scooped Zola up and walked away quite angry?
I am sorry he had such an unpleasant experience.
You think you know people….
But it only takes one to ruin the bunch.
😖😫

Good evening everyone!

I'm sorry about that Angie and that was very rude of them. I hope Richard's okay and not put off by such rudeness. I think those people are lucky that it wasn't anyone else because they have said something.

I've had a quiet day and I did have lunch at the local theatre before buying some rocket for Jacky. She is starting to eat again now that she's in the enclosure although she wasn't pleased with her bath. I'm still disappointed with the neighbours being but it is what it is and I shall plough on.

I've just noticed the sky and some of the clouds are pink again. How is it where you are Edward? I noticed on Cold Dark Room that you said it was raining in Finland. Hope you're new term got off to a good start.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy
Please you must let me know what “Rocket” is!?!?!?!?!?
I must know!
I don’t think we have that in America??

It has been relatively cold today, the wind has been quite strong, and there has been some really heavy rain at times, so quite a change ! Zola didn't go on the breakwater , but he had his long stroking session with me this afternoon, just the same. He expects it now, and will get himself into his preferred position straight away - fairly high up on the right side of my chest, with his head up towards my shoulder. Then I adjust my fleece jacket to make a cave for his head, and start stroking ! I try to breathe fairly deeply, as I think he likes the rocking sensation. Today he moved his head up really close to mine, and rested it against me. We stayed like that for a long time. I love the idea that he is choosing to be close to me ! I should be used to it after all these years, but it still amazes me !
I am very sorry about your neighbours, Natrah and Chef - we have been fairly protected since we moved here, but when we lived in London, in an upstairs flat, the girl living below us was forever listening to painfully loud music - so I know what it's like.
Love from Angie xxxxxxxxx andZola xxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

I've been stroking Jacky as well. I've been cradling her in my lap and saying good morning to everyone. We also say goodnight to everyone as well. All I can do is to keep trying to get the neighbours out and we'll get there one day.

We've had some thundery downpours as well but Jacky is now in the enclosure until the next vet appointment as I don't think we'll get those warm temperatures again. She is eating a bit more and using the food bowl as a basking table.

Goodnight everyone

I think he also likes hearing your heart beat.
At least that’s what my Sally did before she was 100lbs…! 🤣

I had my first lecture yesterday. I came here way early, but with Edward I can't be real picky about travel dates. Last week I made some finishing touches to my cleaning, like cleaning the windows.

Edward has been sleepy, probably with brumation in mind, but he is still eating daily. He doesn't like to be stroked, but sometimes he likes neck scratches.

Edwards servant ☺️ :<3: :tort:

I thought you seemed early. How was the first lecture? Jacky likes her head rubbed and her shell stroked. Daisy was the same.

The end of August or the start of September is usually when our university semesters start. It depends on the university though.

The first lecture was very much just an introduction to the course and how it will be graded. Today will be a first lecture that is actually a part of my own program and not an elective.

Edwards servant ☺️❤️🐢

Good evening everyone!

So Edward's Servant you will now have your assignments. Do you get to go home before Xmas? Jacky has been in the enclosure since Friday and everyone is asking after her. She is okay and she is just getting used to eating in the enclosure again.

Below is Peppermint Perfection:

Goodnight everyone

Dear Natrah and everyone - I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but if you Google Bude Breakwater, you can find quite a lot of photos of it - none with Zola in, of course !
Zola managed to get a walk there today again, but it was a bit cold for him. The weather has been very mixed here, with quite a bit of heavy rain at times, but he does still want to go out. We actually had the heating on for an hour last night, because it felt so grim.
Love from Angie -and Zola, of course xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello from a very soggy Devon. It was raining extremely hard this afternoon, when I was sitting with Zola in his conservatory - I honestly don't think it has ever been that heavy when I have been in there before - I was very glad to see there were no leaks at all - the roof is polystyrene, and the windows are glass in plastic frames -it was quite expensive when we got it built for Zola,20 or so years ago, but the workmen did a proper job, as they say here ! Zola didn't get his breakwater walk today, but I don't think he minded, as it was quite cold - we actually have the central heating on at this moment, for a treat - the house is quite chilly.
I hope all is well with you, Edward's servant, and that Edward himself is safely installed, - and that you and Jackie are ok, Natrah.
Love to all from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

I saw Norah this evening. I'm not at orchestra I had a bad with blocked ears and sinuses and I did hear the neighbours leaving but I didn't hear them coming down the stairs. I have an appointment to have my ears hydrated on Saturday so I should feel better then. Like Angie it has been stormy

Goodnight everyone

Hope you feel better soon Natrah.
We’ve been without broadband since Saturday so no internet etc. Been fixed today so been catching up with all the emails & news etc.
I love the sound of rain on conservatory roof, we haven’t got one but I’ve heard it in other peoples houses.
We’ve had quite a lot of rain today with a little thunderstorm. Dickie came out yesterday but not today!

There are a lot of birds around the conservatory area, and they use the roof as a sort of play area, I think. Zola seems to enjoy the noise - it's company if we are not there !

Dear Natrah - I'm so sorry you are not well - hope you'll feel better after seeing the doctor tomorrow. I'm struggling quite a bit with my headaches at the moment, and am very shaky, which makes it difficult to do so many things.Zola was able to go on the breakwater today, and we both had a lovely rest/stroke when he came back, while Richard was cooking the dinner. He got an air fryer a few days ago - it was very cheap, and he was quite keen to have one. Have you or anyone here any experience with these ?
We have a lot of sparrows in our garden, and also young goldfinches (without red hats on). Richard was worried that his friendly robin had died or been driven away, but we were very happy when he re-appeared yesterday - he was a bit wary, but managed to eat several worms from Richard's hand - and came back again later for more - a bit rough-looking, but many birds are, about now, aren't they !
Love to all from Angiexxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

I bet you've all been struggling to get on here. Anyway it seems that Josh was having trouble with spam whilst I was having trouble with Jacky who was trying to hide under the water tray. She was very active today and she ate a lot! I think my ears are trying to unblock but anyway I can't wait to get tomorrow over with and then I can go to the Southend Chamber Music Club concert in the evening. I'd love to hear those birds on the conservatory roof Angie. Sue has Dickie been active? Edward how are you and your servant?

I have applied for a job at a private school to teach Violin and Piano only on a Thursday but I've had issues with the online application form. First of all I only had 48 hours to fill it in and secondly it kept bringing up gaps in my employment history that weren't there. I am meant to be meeting the Head Of The Arts department on Tuesday and she is going to go through it with me but if there are still issues I may as well not bother.

The pay is better than Allegro Music Academy (shop) but Allegro is more organised. I will still have Allegro and the private pupils so I shall see what happens.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy
