Good evening everyone!

It sounds like Dickie had a very thorough checkup which is good and her weight sounds good. I think next week the vet will be mainly interested in Jacky's weight. Jacky was out again today as it was warm and I had to get down and contort myself to fix the lighting in her enclosure. Edward's Servant I'm reminding myself to check the lights as well as the rest of the enclosure to make it's safe for Jacky. Angie I'm sorry you've had awful weather but I can assure you that the wind has arrived here as it whipping itself up outside!

I just want to tell you all that after leaving the flat and making my way to the bus stop yesterday I found a man collapsing. He was to the clinging to the pillar and I grabbed him before telling the other lady there that he was collapsing. We managed to lower him to the ground and I said he needs an ambulance before going to a nearby shop and asking them to call an ambulance. I thought it best to go to a shop incase 999 ask for a postcode. I then went back outside where a small group had gathered and we all tried to keep talking to the elderly gentleman to keep him conscious. His lips were blue and he was cold to the touch.

Another man tried calling an ambulance and I went back to the shop where they said it was on it's way. A woman who was in the shop came to help and she seemed to know first aid and also a first responder arrived very quickly. My bus also arrived and I was satisfied to board it knowing that the man was good hands. Memories of mum and dad came back especially as the man had the same name as dad

Hope he's feeling better today but I also feel for his family

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: Angie and Zola thankyou for your lovely thoughts about mum and Daisy. Jacky go through a list as well each morning and night.

Crumbs Natrah never a dull moment where you live! I hope the elderly gent is ok & well done for helping him.
It’s become very windy here swirling gusts whistling around the windows. The door keeps rattling & our blinds are moving & the shrub branches & rose bushes keep tapping on the windows. It’s quite eerie sounding.
Could hear fireworks tonight a reminder that bonfire night is approaching. A time i always dread because it frightens George so much & no doubt lots of other animals.
Dickies weight was higher on the vet scales than on ours. She is ok which surprised me as she hasn’t eaten much since early August & our scales indicated a little weight loss. The vet was telling the students that the most common way now to hibernate a tortoise in the UK is by the fridge method.
We are ok doing it our way, she is used to it & the garage temperatures last winter were good for her to hibernate. It’s something we’ll have to keep an eye on though.
Hope your noisy neighbours calm down a bit now they’ve had another complaint. It’s good to have an ally 😊

Hello Natrah - we had rather better weather today - some rain -some really cold spells - and some lovely sunshine ! ! The house felt really cold this afternoon, so Richard made a small fire for me to sit by with Zola for his stroke - as well as having the heating on low. It was very pleasant, though Zola was mostly in his fleece cave on my shoulder, so I was the one who got the most benefit !
We shall be thinking of you and Jacky a lot tomorrow, and send extra special love to you both.
Love from Angie xxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Tomorrow we are supposed to have a small storm. An orange warning for wind has been issued. That means wind gusts of 20 m/s (about 44.7 mph) or more and widespread wind damage, with some areas experiencing continuous damage. Locally, there is expected a need for clearing, long power outages, and disruptions to telecommunications.

It won't rain much though, and the temperatures for tomorrow are a high of 12 C (53,6 F) and a low of 6 C (42,8 F).

Dear Natrah - it was a lovely sunny day today - much better than we expected - so we decided to get Zola's new radicchio -with him, of course. As I have mentioned before, the supplier we go to is on a little industrial estate right out in the countryside, The scenery looked really beautiful - blue sky, with little scraps of fluffy clouds dotted around, and the fields amazingly green - we have had a huge amount of rain, but it seems to have really freshened everything up. Some of the trees were changing colour, but all of them were really bright -perhaps because the dust of the summer had been washed off them. Zola was very good sitting on my lap all the time, and then this evening his dad lit a fire in the room where Zola has his stroking sessions, and he has had a good time on my shoulder !
We will probably go out for another drive tomorrow, if the good weather lasts, and Richard will take some photos - today was probably one of the best we have ever had -though I wish there had been some lambs in the fields too.! !
Love - and much sympathy - from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

We've lovely sunshine here as well and Edward I hope the wind has calmed down now. I'm just about to go to bed and say goodnight to everyone but I just wanted to share the photo that Natrah took below. We have been enjoying strawberries and we hope that Daisy has been enjoying strawberries with my original mums. Natrah's mum and nana and her dad loved strawberries as well.
I hope that Zola enjoys his radicchio and that Angie feels better

Goodnight everyone

Dear Natrah -I hope your day has gone well, and that you are not feeling too sad. We had a lovely sunny day again, and went out exploring parts of the area we don't get to much. It was really beautiful !
There is a cheese factory which makes my favourite cheese - Taw Valley Cheddar - so we stocked up, and Zola tried to make friends with one of the "cows" on the lawn outside !
Lots of love from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx==b1.jpg

We keep moving Dickie’s house round the garden to the most warm spots in the hope of her catching the last of the summer sun. Now that the sun is lower in the sky it gets hidden by the conifers & the roof opposite, probably contributing to Dickies slightly earlier wind down. She doesn’t come out but looks out through her open door. If it’s warm Pete gets her out.
One time she walked about a bit on the grass then decided to head for home …back to where her house normally is only to find it wasn’t there!
So he moved it back for her & she went in. It must be a bit disorienting to keep seeing a different view! She seems quite dozy now & doesn’t appear to have seen the big stone tortoise that I’ve moved from its hiding place under some bushes to under the conifers.
Hoping she doesn’t sleep too soon as it will affect how long she can stay in hibernation for, it’s usually February when she wakes up.

It has been colder today, but sunny in the afternoon, so Richard decided to take Zola on the breakwater. However, it was quite a bit colder there, and also there were workmen with noisy machines there, but he kept plodding on. He was quite cold when he came back, so Richard made a fire and Zola got under my fleece - he does enjoy being there ! I worked hard at warming him up, breathing on his shell and rubbing it - he is fine now. We have never tried to hibernate him,but are very aware he needs to be warm -to be honest, we would miss him terribly if he were asleep all winter - and he seems happy with what we do.
Richard hasnt been feeling very well for a few days - normally he never admits something like that - but our health centre has changed a lot in the past couple of years - the doctors we knew have left, and there is a constant change of new ones -you have to wait ages for an appointment, and will end up getting a different person every time, so we have avoided going if possible !
I hope you have had a good day, Natrah -love to you and all our forum friends from Angie xxxxxxxxxx and Zolaxxxxxxxxxx

Dear Natrah -I had a long conversation with the head nurse in the headache department at the hospital, and it has been decided that I can try the treatment where you give yourself an injection every month -and that's all ! It was originally thought that I wouldn't be suitable, as years ago I had a heart problem -but I got a stent put in, and I've been ok ever since. So now they think I might be all right! I am going to try for three months, anyway. I am getting really depressed with the headaches and being so shaky, - and also, of course, all the injections I have to have now - and the travelling to the hospital - this new stuff will be delivered to me to do at home. I might get Richard to do the actual injection while I am shaky, though !
It has been quite cold again today,so Zola just had a quick look at the sea, but he had a lovely fire to sit by for his afternoon stroke.
Love to you and all our forum friends from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxxxxx

That’s good news. As I’ve mentioned before my sister has this & it’s so much better. She manages to inject herself & says she wouldn’t want to go back to the head injections, around 21 each time so less than you have to have. Hope it works as well for you 🤞

Good evening everyone!

I've missed a couple of days because of my ever changing timetable and now I hear that another colleague has left so I will get some of his pupils as well. It's also been a funny week with my dental appointment on Tuesday and Jacky's checkup tomorrow. I need another filling on Monday so that's my morning sorted and I am hopeful that the vet will be happy with Jacky's weight tomorrow. Dickie's vet sounds very thorough.

Angie wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to have those injections. I imagine that Richard would need to be shown how to do injections. You've reminded me that many years ago my parents and nana were involved in a minor car crash whilst we were on holiday in Wales. My nana had become very shaky as she grew older but after treatment for a minor injury from the crash she was much better but if only I could remember what the treatment was.

It has been cold here as well and I have had the heating on a bit more and Jacky has been lying in. Anyway she will have a soak before going to the vets and some strawberries and because we have an afternoon appointment I will put her straight to bed when we get back. She has promised to shove the vet!

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

I have to admit there's usually an alert about a member's birthday and I didn't notice it on this phone yesterday. Forgot to mention that on Saturday I'm going to meet friends from the Dementia Forum in London near the Tower Of London at a pub called the Dickens.

Have a good time Natrah. It’s probably been a while since you’ve had a meet up. Some familiar names I expect ?

Dear Angie,

Also I hope Richard's feeling better. He's probably affected by the change in the weather. Another thing I forgot to say is that the new neighbour's got his old job back and he could be starting in January. He is looking forward to coming home with his probation officer's lanyard 🤣!
