Here is The Best Tortoise with his two servants on his big day ! He was 5 years old at the time, and behaved impeccably through the whole experience - he was even thoughtful enough to wee and poo outside the registrars building, so we didn't have the embarassment of having to clean the place -or us -up when inside.

Zola's shell pattern has changed a lot since then, but we think he is still as lovely as ever! And still the best tortoise in the world, in our opinion !!!
The weather was really bad last night - heavy wind and rain all night, (I hardly slept at all because of the noise) -and there was a lot of flooding around when we went to buy our haggis for tomorrow ! However, things seem a bit quieter at the moment.

Happy Burns Night Everyone!

Angie I hope you enjoyed your Haggis and ice-cream I went to my local theatre cafe again and had Chilli Con Carne and Jacket Potato followed by Cappuccino Cake see below. We have the decorators here at the moment and the back of the house has been painted. The porch, staircase and landing is being done and should look palatial you wouldn't have been able to do this with the former neighbours. One of the neighbours was suggesting that I could save on the heating by putting foil behind the radiators. Does anyone else have this? Apparently it would make the flat warmer.

Dear Natrah -we have always put foil behind our radiators - well, actually we buy rolls of silver covered special stuff from a DIY place - it is thickish, so you just cut to the size of your radiator and push it all the way down at the back. It probably does help, though as we have always used it, I can't be sure what the difference would be !

One of the neighbours was suggesting that I could save on the heating by putting foil behind the radiators. Does anyone else have this? Apparently it would make the flat warmer.

I’ve heard of it before. I assume the idea is to reflect the heat from the radiator back into the room. A lot of radiators are on the walls beneath windows so I guess it might help.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves Angie! It was my friend's birthday yesterday and on Saturday we enjoyed a lovely fish meal in Kings Restaurant Rayleigh. Yesterday I had lunch at the Cliffs Pavilion where I had Cappuccino Coffee Cake (scroll back for the photo) but today I am pleased to say that my blood pressure readings were fine. Just wish I didn't have to chase the surgery anyway it's very cold here but not as cold as the US.

I hope Richard and Zola enjoy themselves tomorrow

Now, that is really appropriate for Richard, being a musician himself, but I'm not sure about Zola - he has his own talents - peeing, pooing and being amazingly loveable and loving in his own way, but I don't think music is one of his skills!
The weather here has been really bad, though we were spared the worst of it - we managed to get a brief look at the sea, which was pretty dramatic. We would have gone somewhere special, but we will have to put that off until another day.

Good evening everyone!

The last forty-eight hours have been better here and I was able to plant the Hyacinth bulbs. I managed to unearth quite a few worms so I hope that a hungry Robin can enjoy himself. Do you still see yours Angie? Did you all have any special culinary treats on Richard's and Zola's birthday?

I hope there aren't too many flooded roads near you Angie and Sue and I hope that Chef is okay with all the snow in the US. @The_Four_Toed_Edward how are things where you are? I also hope that Angie is feeling better these days.

The other day I felt light-headed because the staircase and porch was being decorated. The house looks quite palatial now and they couldn't do this with the former neighbours.

Thankfully no rain today but still overcast & quite cold. The rivers are very high, level with the banks so it won’t take much more before it goes over the fields.
Glad the decorating is making the place look better. Hope the landlord doesn’t put up the rent!
