Dear Natrah - I'm very sorry you are not feeling well, and I hope tomorrow will be better. My mum has had a really bad headache for a couple of days, but luckily she will be going to get her head injections on Tuesday, and will be able to talk to the nurse who does them. We went to look at the sea, as usual, and the sun came out, and the water looked very pretty.
Then this afternoon, I had some slices of opuntia cactus to eat for the first time - my mum had got it by post, as my Uncle John Patt doesn't have them in his radicchio barn ! It was very nice , and there is lots left for weeks to come !
Lots of love to you, Jacky and Angel Daisy, and all my forum friends from Zola xxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

I tried to come on here yesterday evening but I couldn't get through due to some internet bug. I should have been enjoying the Southend Chamber Music Club Concert this evening but after another bad night and my cold being stuffy I thought it would be best to leave it especially as my orchestra has it's own concert next week. The landlady is supposed to have spoken to the neighbour today I'll see what happens to night. Anyway some of the noise may have been due to a police chase at about 4.45 am because the suspects cat was in the road with a bashed bumper and smashed window. I expect you give a good nip Zola. I remember when I tried to feed Jacky and she nipped my finger.

I hope your mum was feeling better today and I hope Sue and Pete are okay. I bet Dickie has been sleeping. I had a good nap this afternoon.

Goodnight everyone

Sorry you are unwell Natrah & it doesn’t help being disturbed again at night. It’s a shame you had to miss the concert but hopefully you’ll be well enough for yours.
Dickie has been wandering round his dad’s kitchen! She‘s having regular warm soaks & has done a wee. The forecast is for more rain tomorrow 😳will our lawn ever dry out! Come summer we’ll probably be longing for rain though.
It’s quite chilly here tonight & in the town centre some roads have been gritted. We went to see someone we know who had to go back into hospital during the week having only come home the evening before. I visited her yesterday & she asked me to take in some fresh clothes etc. Went in tonight & she was about to be discharged again & was waiting for the hospital transport to take her home. Thankfully she did seem much better tonight than previous day.
She has 2 budgies that we clean out for her as she can’t manage the mess they make. She has a learning disability & has support carers who dont appear to do much but their job is to take her out & support her independence. The trouble is she doesn’t do much herself which was very evident when we called in the flat on tuesday to do the birds & was the day she had gone back into hospital. Im glad I cleaned things up a bit ready for her return as it would have been awful for her to come back to how it was.
I’ve taken the 4 dustbin bags of washing plus wet washing that had been left in the kitchen. The support carers must have bagged it all up & left it there. They haven’t been back since as my note is still where I left it. I don’t think they can go in the flat without her permission which is why I have a key.
Honestly it drives me up the wall the way people like this lady are just left to get on with it. The birds are a contentious issue too as quite honestly she hasn’t done much in the way of looking after them for years. My mum, who was her neighbour, kept an eye on her & they used to go round the local shops together. Once dementia started though with mum, the neighbour then kept an eye on mum. This is how I became involved with her, more so after mum went into care as her own family didnt bother 😡
On a lighter note I had an email from the steam train company offering a big discount on some availability on the dining train next saturday. They must have had some cancellations but unfortunately we couldn’t take up the offer but it is something we can look forward to doing again sometime in the summer perhaps.
Goodnight Natrah & I hope tonight is more peaceful for you

Good evening everyone!

I am feeling better today after a very goodnight's sleep but I have cancelled all the pupils tomorrow as I don't want to give it to them plus the orchestral concert is on Saturday. I just stayed in today and did a few jobs. Sue that lady is lucky to have you and Zola I hope you got to look at the sea. Sherman are you more active now. PeeWee (@MenagerieGrl) and Sally (@Chefdenoel10) are you all more active now?

I have noticed Blue **** nesting in the roof of the house opposite.

Goodnight everyone

Hello Natrah - we have lots of blue**** in our garden, and I think some will probably nest in the nest box close to the kitchen window - they usually do. The weather has been just awful, but we took Zola to the sea as usual, and while he was looking at the water with his dad, in the rain, a lovely big rainbow appeared. A lady came along at that moment who had met Zola before, and ahe asked if she could take a photo of him in front of the rainbow. So she did, and was delighted with it. I wonder if Daisy would be watching, and maybe laughing.
Love from Angie and Zola xxxxx

Good evening everyone and @Cathie G!

I hope you all had a good day. I didn't go in to work today as I still have my cold although it is better. I noticed the Magpies but not any Blue ****. I caught up on some jobs including ironing and watering the houseplants and I also fitted a new bulb in Jacky's heat bar. Boy! Was that difficult!

To get the bulb in I had to remove the whole lamp. I then the lamp back in but then I had fun and games trying to flex through the vent in the enclosure. After having wished that I could get in the enclosure myself or get Jacky to do the job 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!! I decided to remove the vent to make it easier to thread the wire through and then I created another 'vent' using insulation tape.

I hope you all had a good day and I did think of Zola looking at the sea because the sunset looked beautiful. I hope Pete's sinuses are better and that Angie's okay. Good luck tomorrow Angie and look after your mum Zola. Sapphire could be getting another little friend soon.

Goodnight everyone

Dear MaNaAk,
I visited my puppy today. He's adorable. I gave his mom a Lamb bone to thank her for giving me a puppy ( like it or not). Anyway after that I got to play with him a bit and he sure loves me and my fingers or more likely lamb 🤣 it was fun. As far as Sapphire goes they'll probably never get to be best friends. I do think he'll be ok with Razberri and Dilly though. They enjoy baby animals. Here's a picture of Mr. Fre Bee. He's the little brown one.

Cathie 😘

Hello Natrah -I'm just writing to let you know that when i go for my next injections, in 6 weeks time,I may be able to miss out the injections, and start on the new pill which has just been okayed by the NHS. !. I would be so glad to be able to stop the injections - over time my scalp gets more and more sore, and the injections more painful.
I do hope your cold is over soon - I have a bit of one too, though not as bad as yours. Lots of love from Angie and Zola to you and all our tortoise forum friends xxxxxxxxx

Natrah you sound very resourceful!
How are you doing? Hope the cold is going. How is Jackie?
Remember the butterfly i mentioned that was hibernating in our garage? Today I noticed it was on the wall near the door. I wondered whether it had woken up during that slightly warmer spell & had been looking to get outside so I took it to a flower. It wasn’t properly awake at first then suddenly it opened its wings & flew off! I saw where it landed & hope it’s found itself some shelter as although the sun was out this afternoon it’s still been quite chilly & tonight it is cold.
Pete still isn’t well. We think he’s had flu. It’s been 2.5 weeks now. He started back doing his deliveries today but only lasted 2 hours & had to come back. Tonight he‘s had a consistently high temperature of just over 39degrees so I rang 111. They just said to rest at home & take paracetamol drink plenty of fluids but to ring back if he gets worse or temperature increases. So far thankfully it has reduced but it was a bit worrying. I’ve told him he’s not going to work tomorrow!
@zolasmum that is really good news that the new treatment has been approved & I hope it works well for you 🤞

Hello Sue - I do hope Pete is feeling a bit better - flu is such a debilitating illness, isn't it. Richard and I are lucky being able to avoid being with other people very much, except when outside with Zola, and I think we are healthier as a result ! How lovely to have seen a butterfly - we saw some fat looking houseflies sunning themselves on our porch wall, the other day - and one bee buzzing round the flowers nearby, but mainly it has been so cold and wet that only the birds venture out to their feeders. I suddenly realised today that if we hadn't fed the birds here, we would never have met Zola, as it was on a trip to a pet shop in Okehampton, ttowhere we had become quite friendly with the owner, and bought the bird food in bulk from him ,that he said to us "would you like to see some baby tortoises?" The rest is history !
Best wishes to Pete, and I do hope you will stay ok.

Hello Natrah - Zola and I hope you are well now and have had a good day - the weather is awful here, but apart from the puddle in our utility room, everything seems ok. I was reading the Guardian today, and there was a mention of Southend, and of a fish and chip shop called Fish and Wish, near the pier -I expect you know it. (We get a free -or almost free) copy of the Guardian every day, from Waitrose, if we buy something there, which is good, because we couldn't afford it otherwise, and it's the only paper we read.
I hope Daisy is doing well.
Goodnight and love to you and all our forum friends from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx
Thanks @zolasmum. Its great that you met Zola that day & gave him the unique life he has had since. Zola must know what a lucky tortoise he is 😊
At the time, we had never even considered having a tortoise - or any pet -but seeing that bright little face looking up at us, we loved him from that moment. Mike, who ran the pet shop, said we must go away and think about it, and he would tell anyone else that Zola was taken - he also told us how we should make an enclosure for him - anyway, we were there next day, full of enthusiasm - and he has brightened and enriched our lives so much ever since.

Most of our pets were “acquired” or unplanned! Such decisions do change your life forever ❤️

Good evening everyone!

I am definitely getting there although I am still having medication and I may have to have my ears syringed. How are you feeling now Angie? I'm so pleased you won't need to have those injections anymore. I am not great with needles and I remember the nurse showing me how to test dad's sugar-levels when I was caring for him and he ended up going back to using diastix strips! However did eventually get used to giving Daisy her antibiotics and she was such a good girl.

How is Pete now Sue? His sinuses must be very swollen with flu. What did the doctor say?

Jacky is okay and her temperatures are 6 - 8 degrees Celsius but I will be out it up to 7 - 9 degrees Celsius over the weekend and after that she will need to go in the Pet Carrier.

I may not be able to post before Saturday's concert but I am looking forward to it and I seem to have had better nights. The neighbours and I have been talking about the noise and at least some of it could have come from the house next door.

I've been reading about Zola and remember Dickie's story. Sapphire (@CathieG) I was wondering what your story was again? How are you anyway Sapphire? Are you becoming more active?

Mum and Nana bought Jacky and her original partner locally seventy-four years ago but Jacky's partner didn't survive her first winter because she was attacked by a mouse. Therefore a year Daisy arrived from the same place and the strawberry wars began❤️!

Goodnight everyone

Glad you’re starting to feel better Natrah but do you have to go to a clinic for ear syringing? It’s not done by our GP practise anymore.
Pete is still coughing but it’s not chesty. He is still sweating a lot at night & changes his PJ top twice. I’ve had to wash all the bed covers again plus keep up with his pj washing as he doesn’t have that many! He finally rang the docs today & is going tomorrow. I think though that he seems a bit better & hasn’t had ti go for a lie down today. His sinuses arn‘t too bad it’s just the swollen nose lining means he can’t clear his nose.
For a time I had to do my mums blood sugar tests & she used to anticipate the click & pull her finger away! I’ve tried it on myself & it does hurt!
Hope the neighbour noise settles down. It’s a horrible thing to deal with & can make a person quite on edge when trying to sleep & expecting to hear a disturbance at any time.
Best of luck with the concert, hope it all goes well.
Also hope @zolasmum head isn’t too sore & the mild cold stays mild.

Goodnight all
