Didn’t go anywhere today, it’s been wet & slushy. More or less cleared now but I hear we might get a bit more tomorrow.
Pete hoping to restart work tomorrow although he’s far from better but has a deadline on the deliveries so feels he needs to start again.

The dental appointment went very well and I have no fillings. I spent the morning in Leigh and I walked past our old house on the way to the dentist. Hello Natrah -I'm glad you had no problems at the dentist - it's always a worry, isn't it? I haven't been very well -constant headache and very shaky - which is all very tiring - but Zola is fine, and enjoyed a very long (one hour) stroke with me by the fire this evening. He really loves it - I sit in the appropriate chair, and Richard brings him in - there is just a very small light - and the fire, of course - and I can feel his little body relaxing in my hands straight away.
Last night I was woken up by a small occasional cheeping sound - I tried to ignore it, but it got louder and more frequent - it was the battery in the fire alarm just outside the bedroom door! I had to wake Richard, as I'm not tall enough to reach it - he took it down and disconnected it, and put a new battery in this morning. It has happened before - in the middle of the night again,of course! Still, we need to have it.
The weather has been poor here, but very little snow - lots of rain, and a lot of fields locally turned into lakes - our house is well above the road, and unlikely to flood - it has been really cold, though.

Hello again, Natrah - the weather today has been pretty bad - the fields and roads have mostly drained, but we are having sleet now, and it's extremely cold - it is supposed to be dry and relatively warm tomorrow - the poor little birds don't know what to do. Richard feeds them twice a day, but we are getting a lot of starlings recently, who push the little birds away. Still, Richard managed to feed a robin on his hand - though he had to take his hat off before the robin would accept him !
I hope all is well with you - do you have to give any lessons at the moment ?

Good evening everyone and especially Angie!

I hope you're feeling a bit better. The weather's not much better here. Yesterday was fine, Sunday was dreadful and today started off dry but my colleague arrived at the shop covered in ice and I arrived at orchestra in 'freezing' rain. Orchestra should have finished at 9.30 pm but it was abandoned at 9.15 pm because the conductor had to drive all the back to Layer de la Hayes in North Essex!

Please keep warm and keep safe and the same goes for Edward's Servant and @chefdenoel.

I am scared to death over here with the winds blowing violently and some gusts are over 50mph. !!
I feel the roof woll be off by morning!!
The bed shakes as well as the room!
It is very cold here and the heat is on high but only gets to the best of 70.
I am worried for my pets not myself.
Poor wee Gary is so tight in his shell that I had to make sure he wasn’t deed.!!
Apart from that I am praying for Angie to feel comfort sooner than later and that Natrah gets home safe and doesn’t go out till summer for fear of the ICE !!
I can’t write any more because I am sitting here in gloves to stop the splitting of the skin on my hands. They hurt so badly.
Ok then, please please please take care of your wee selves!!!!

We have about 24 cm of snow. Today we are expecting a high of -9 C and a low of -13 C. I am travelling back to my university city with Edward on Saturday and my lectures start next Monday. The semester actually starts today, I just don't have anything to attend, since I will have a lot of independent classes next semester.

I take an interest in the weather affecting the States as it usually comes across the Atlantic & hits us to a lesser degree. The weather in the US is severe isn’t it from one extreme of the cold & ice & snow to the fires raging in Los Angeles. I do hope it eases up for you soon @Chefdenoel10. Hello everyone - today we bought an early half-birthday present for Zola - an electric heated pillow ! I've never seen one before, but there it was, in the Lidl leaflet, and I thought it might be really useful for times when he gets chilled - and more effective than holding him under my jumper. And maybe useful for Richard or me sometimes too. The heat control has lots of levels, but it doesn't get really hot, just pleasantly warm.

Sue I'm guessing that you had sunshine today

Well yes the sun appeared but it was still a bitterly cold day. The birds are eating loads at the moment. We have 2 bird tables & 2 trays on the floor for ground feeders. Also plenty of suet & fat balls & fruit. We try to help all size birds including the gulls that fly over but won’t land. I throw bread onto the shed roof & they swoop down legs dangling to pick it up. It’s also essential to provide water & it’s a battle to thaw it out & keep it that way through the day. They still have baths even though it’s freezing!
My brother in law has a severe chest infection & is having to have intravenous antibiotics in hospital each day. Yesterday the district nurse came to do it at home but his canula wouldn’t work as the vein had collapsed & she couldn’t get another in so he had to go to the hospital for his treatment again. They did say he should be staying in but they haven’t got any available beds. There are no end of infections in the hospital here & country wide so we prefer he is treated at home if possible.
Been keeping an eye on the thermometer on Dickies hibernation box. It’s only 3 degrees but the box is insulated & filled with straw so the temperature inside will be higher. Hopefully she is ok.
