How lovely it must be, Natrah,to have Jacky doing so much of your housework, while you sit in some friendly cafe, eating a fancy icecream ! Zola, unfortunately, doesnt have any interest in housework - though he does like shredding paper, so as to make a mess and force me to clear it all up !
It was a bit less windy today, but still not a good day for a walk on the breakwater - and Richard had to wait in for the central heating oil to be delivered, anyway (the hose has to go round the house, and he likes to supervise it.)
I am going for a hearing test on Saturday - my hearing seems to be deteriorating, and I have never had it checked. I'm always annoying Richard by asking him to repeat things, and I have a lot of trouble when listening to the television sometimes. Richard claims that I'm not listening to what he is saying, but I really do try ! ! Also, I am now on the list for a cataract operation, though it is a very long list ! I am trying to get myself sorted out before things become too much trouble - i wish I could improve my balance and walking too. The optician seemed to think the cataract op would help improve my balance, actually.
The flowers in the garden looked really battered about this morning, but perked up later, and dried out a bit - even one or two new ones appeared.
I hope all is well with you - love to you, Jacky,Angel Daisy, and all our forum friends from Angie and Zolaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good morning everyone!

We are on our way to see the lady that pokes tortoises! We are on a bus but I can't see anything because it is easier for Natrah to put me in the trolley as there is a fifteen minute walk at the other end.

Good morning everyone!

We are on our way back from the vets after what was generally a good checkup. Jacky's eyesight as now quite poor because of cataracts and she has some arthritis in her back left leg. I have been advised to feed her on either a white bowl or black slate which I have been doing as they can't remove cataracts in a tortoise. I am also ordering a supplement for her joint. Apart from this she is doing well now that she is nearly 90 and we even spoke about Jonathan the Aldabra who is 195 and both deaf and blind. Jacky also had a nail trim on that particular leg and when the vet brought her back through the waiting two children became very excited so when we came out they said: "We saw your tortoise and she's very big". Anyway I let them look at Jacky and they were amazed at her age!

Natrah

PS: She behaved well probably because it's not too hot here at the moment!

Good afternoon everyone,

I am currently having lunch and strolling around in the garden. Yesterday I felt a bit like Zola when these two children who were at the place where they like to poke tortoises couldn't believe what they were seeing and I felt like a celebrity!

Jacky

PS: Last week the vet poked a tortoise that was 125 years old!

Hello Jacky - of course you are a celebrity anyway ! I impressed some people today when my mum had her hraring tested - the lady doing it fetched her friends to see me - they were very pleased to meet me - most people are, actually !
My mum has a mild hearing loss - she is getting little hearing aids for free, in a few weeks, so I expect I shall meet the ladies there again - I shall have some photos of me to show them next time.
It has been very mixed weather today - some really heavy rain for a while when we were coming back in the car.
Lots of love and admiration to you, dear Jacky, from Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

I hope you all got out today and Edward are you back with your servant? How was the baby-sitting? I went out for a few hours in the morning and in the afternoon. I came in at lunchtime because Natrah had to go out and it was very blustery. It was much cooler than yesterday and Natrah had to put my thermostat back up. Zola I hope your mum gets on with her hearing aids perhaps they will help her headaches. Natrah had a bad Hay-fever headache yesterday and it took her a long time to get to sleep last night. Dickie and Sherman how are you two? Sherman have you been doing any homework improvements lately?

Goodnight everyone

The baby sitting actually only started today! I have spent the past few days in my home town with Edward, my parents and siblings.

Dickie has been living outside now for a few weeks but we kept her indoor enclosure ready in the lounge just in case. It was dismantled today as it’s the first day of summer! She comes out each day even the other day when it was raining. It’s not too cold at night & she has plenty of straw to keep warm if it gets chilly.
She spends a lot of time in the border between our garden & the neighbours. She’s still trying to find a way to get through the fence to their luscious lawn.
Sherman has been patrolling his garden & so far the gate Pete put in has held up to any of his attempts to get through to the pond area. Other than that it’s been just normal days!

Dear Natrah - today we went to get some more radicchio for me - it was a lovely sunny day, so we went to Barnstaple by the most scenic route - and the views were amazing - as were the wild flowers everywhere - one of the best years my parents could remember for scenery ! The only not so good thing was that there was a "Road Closed" notice on the way, which led my dad into a lot of extra driving along very narrow roads with few passing places - and there was no sign of any road repairs being done anywhere - or any road workers either ! We got to the radicchio place luckily just before it closed at 1pm (they start work ar 5am)!
Then I went for a short walk on the breakwater - a bit later than usual, but the weather may be bad tomorrow, and my dad thought I deserved it, because I had been very good on my mum's lap in the car !
I hoe your hay fever isn't bothering you a lot, Natrah.
Love to all our forum friends from Zola xxxxxxxxxx and Angie xxxxxxxxxx
