Hello group!

I'm new to the community and being a tortoise mum.

Meet Sally, she turned one in march, she's a Hermann tortoise who's full of character. I've had her since February and I'm totally in love with her 😍

Any advice I would love to hear..

Hello and welcome - I'm so glad you found this forum, as there are many very experienced people here, who will be able to help you and give advice - proper up-to-date advice, rather than pet shops and old-style books, etc.
I have a Hermann's tortoise too - Zola is nearly 23, and we have had him since he was a baby- he is the joy of our lives -well, most of the time, anyway !
Sally looks very sweet
Best wishes from Angie (in Devon)

Hello and Welcome
First thing you need to do is get rid of those pellets. They are not proper substrate at all. Orchid bark, fir bark coconut coir or combo of them.
She also needs humidity, 80% to grow smooth. She's already pyramided for so young.
Please read the care sheet under the Mediterranean species section.

Hello. Thank you for your advice.

The pellets was given to us by the reptile shop we got her from.

Is this better for her?

https://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/tortoise-terrain-10-litre

Or both?

Would she be ok with this as well? https://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/komodo-tortoise-food-flower-mix-60g-(online-exclusive)

Sorry been looking around and want to make sure

The first one is fine, you soak it in water before using or you can find some that is already loose
The other two I don't know them but they don't look like anything I would recommend or use
Never use sand, it causes impaction. You can also use ZooMed forest floor. It's good to use the forest floor on top of the coconut coir

The coco fibre brick and dried flower mix are perfectly fine, but don't go for the 'tortoise terrain' substrate. This has limestone bits in the mixture which sadly is not safe for tortoises if they ingest it, despite it being sold for tortoises. If you find the coco fibre messy then a layer of orchid bark on top can help https://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/swell-premium-orchid-bark-coarse#premium-orchid-bark-coarse-20l

Hey Sally's Mom,

Welcome!

Pro tip;
When you see 40,000 or 60,000 under someone's name here........it means that you can reach out to that person and know that you are getting a correct response. If they don't know, they know who to hook you up with!

Sally is such a pretty Sheila!
