Dickie is still awake but is not coming out. Think she is semi hibernating. Some days she doesn’t move then on the odd nice day she will.
Don’t know what Sherman is up to these days but if I hear anything I’ll let you know!
Despite all the issues we’ve had with the weather this summer it looks like Dickie will hibernate the same time as she has in previous years & not really any sooner.

Hello Natrah - I presume you will want to have Jacky up and awake for her 89th birthday celebrations on Saturday - even if it's just for a few minutes to hear all the birthday wishes and songs shouted to her over the miles ! I shall be there with my mum and dad - what time do you suggest we shout/sing to her. I think I've told you before that my dad is a very good singer -my mum -er- not so much!
It was sunny this afternoon, and I was able to have a walk on the breakwater, but I was very cold when I got home. I spent some time tucked under my mum's jumper, on her tummy, when we came back ! That was nice, and I didn't scratch her at all !
I hope that you and Jacky are well -lots of love to you and Angel Daisy, and to all my forum friends from Zola xxxxxxxxx (and from Angie xxxxxxxxx)

Can I ask you if you think we should soak Dickie once in a while whilst she’s still not properly asleep? It would mean disturbing her in her bed. I’ve tried looking it up but couldn't find an answer.

When was the last time Dickie ate? Jacky started fasting properly on Sunday and I have been giving her warm soaks but next week I shall give her cool soaks and then I shall stop altogether. I'm just following what the vet said last year.

Dear Zola,

It would be best at lunchtime because she is waking up later. I shall switch her lights on at about 10.30 am before I go and teach. However I need her up at about 12.50 pm at the earliest so that's a good time to sing. We had good weather here as well but did anyone see lightning last night. We had the full works!

She last ate at least a month ago & only a nibble really then. She hasn’t eaten properly for some time now so we won’t offer her food anyway but she’s too dozy now to interact with us. Pete doesn’t think we should soak her any more as he doesn’t want to risk her urinating. He wouldn’t have even thought of doing it if she was still at his dad’s, it’s just me not being sure if we should or not.

Dear Natrah - I have warned Richard and Zola that we have to sing to Jacky at ten to one tomorrow - we will give it a couple of goes, in case she misses it the first time ! Our neighbours are away, so we won't scare them ! You must be very proud that you have kept Jacky flourishing for so long, and your parents would be proud too.

Dear Jacky - We sang to you at the correct time, and I think you must have heard us, as Natrah thanked us - I will sing to you again with my mum when we have our stroke by the fire. I have to admit my mum cried a bit after we all sang to you, but she said it was because she was happy you have had such a good life and been so much loved.

Hello Natrah -I hope you are having a good day. My mum and I did sing again to Jacky, but she was probably asleep. There was some heavy rain this morning, but the sun came out in the afternoon, so I was able to have a walk on the breakwater with my dad. We met some nice people, including a man who used to live next door to a family who had a pet badger, and he used to take it for a walk sometimes. When it got tired it would curl right up in a ball !
I got fairly cold on my walk, and later sat by the fire with my mum, who put me under her jumper - she was stroking me at the same time - I think I went to sleep for a while there.

Thankyou for the birthday greetings everyone and thankyou for singing to Jacky twice Zola, Angie and Richard. I'm afraid that I didn't get any sleep last night due to issues with the mattress and the neighbours keeping everyone awake all night. However I managed to go to lunch with my friends as it was also dad's birthday. Jacky did stay up for a few hours but of course she is beginning to brumate
