I live in an apartment with extremely thin walls. Mind you, I can hear my next door neighbors door squeking every time it opens and closes. Luckily none of my neighbors tend to make noise at night, only during every other time of the day! I am really glad for that knowing how thin the walls are.

Edward did not appreciate when the apartment next door was renovated which included some drilling to the wall adjacent of his enclosure. Otherwise, I don't think he minds the noise. He bops his head and paces around when he hears something annoying, but sometimes it can be really loud and he is fast asleep.

Forgot to say, the reason why I am travelling to see my parents is that it is the Finnish independence day tomorrow. It has always felt like the start of the holiday season for me, since advents haven't really been big deal in my family. How about you, when does the "holiday season" begin in your own mind?

This last weekend some houses in our street put up their outside decorations. I guess managing to wait until beginning dec was ok, some people never actually took them down from before, they just didn’t light them up!
For me the experience of Xmas starts when I start looking for presents so I guess it’s already started. As for getting into the Xmas spirit it seems to have eluded me for the last few years! Must be my age 🤭
No news on Sherman as Pete hasn’t been there for a couple of weeks due to other things going on. I wonder if they will hang some mistletoe over his door like they’ve done before 😆
Dickie is sleeping peacefully & George keeps us busy as usual. He has dermatitis between two toes so we are treating it with steroid cream but he also has to wear a collar to stop him licking it off. He’s not happy about that!
I hope those with noisy neighbours are granted a New Years wish for peace & goodwill 🙏🏻💤

Good afternoon everyone!

Edward I hope you've got better weather for your independence day than we have hear. It is dull, wet and miserable I hope it's better where Zola, Angie and Sue are. Chef the last two nights were okay but I usually let the landlords know when the neighbours are noisy and I think they are trying to do something. Anyway how are things at the moment? Do you or your neighbours have a landlord or do you own your property? @Lyn W also has trouble with her neighbours.

Sue I am now the same about Xmas I like buying presents and the build up to Xmas with carols for the pupils the Quakers Carol Concert which is on 15th December and meeting friends to give out presents but above all Xmas Day with friends. I get more into the Xmas spirit when the Turkey is in the oven. However I do remember what is was like when caring for dad and preparing for Xmas and could be very stressful.

Angie how are you feeling today? I hope your a bit better try to look forward to getting radicchio for Zola after his beak trim. Zola good luck for tomorrow and enjoy the drive to Tavistock for your favourite radicchio.

Keep safe

Natrah

Hello Natrah - the weather isn't very promising for our journey tomorrow, but as long as there are no fallen trees blocking the road, or floods, we shouldn't have problems - and as mainly all I have to do is hold Zola on my lap in the car, I should be ok ! I will go in to the vets with him too, of course -and will have lots of cucumber slices ready for him when it's over. I was giving Zola his stroke by the fire earlier, and the wind was making a tremendous noise in the chimney - also Richard had to go outside to fetch something, and was nearly blown over ! Zola just went on enjoying his stroke, though !
The thing I really like about Christmas is the fairy lights - we hope to drive into Bude nearer the time, at night, and see all the lights there. Actually, we have some red poinsettia lights above our kitchen window, which stay there all the year round, as they are so pretty and cheerful ! And some coloured ones in Zola's room too - they are very effective, being reflected in the windows which go practically all the way round his walls.
When I was teaching special needs children, I always tried to make sure they helped make a really nice card - and a little iced Christmas cake each - it seemed very important to me that their families had something they could display to other people that they could be proud of - and I know their families really appreciated it. Of course, I had to do a lot of preparation at home - including baking the cake mixture we had made together at school in lots of very small baked beans tins !
I hope you have a peaceful night.
Lots of love to Jacky, Angel Daisy, and to all our forum friends from Angie xxxxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Storm Darragh has arrived and it is raining. I hope everyone is okay but particularly Angie, Richard and Zola because they have an amber weather warning. Sue how are things where you are? It was calm here today and the pictures below are towards Canvey Island, towards Kent and towards the east. I didn't get to Rayleigh today because the pupils had a Carol Concert with their school. Therefore I went into town to do some shopping and found myself having lunch at Tomassi's again. I had Turkey Panini and the mince pies again.

Zola how is your beak and did you get your radicchio? Angie are you feeling better?

Good night everyone

Good luck Zola!

I hope you all have lovely weather for that pretty drive. It's a lovely day here.

Natrah, Sleeping Beauty and Angel Daisy
Hello Natrah - it has been rather a strange day today - we were getting organised to go out when Tom, our next door neighbour rang to say he had spoken on the phone to a doctor because he was getting palpitations and was told to get himself to the A and E at Barnstaple, but not to drive himself there. So he asked us to take him, which was fine, as we were going there anyway for the radicchio, but it kind of messed up our timetable. But we got there, with Tom, and then collected some lovely radicchio, then had to hang about before seeing the vet. However, Zola was a good brave boy, and didn't fight much - then we were able to come home. Tom rang a few minutes ago - he was given a very thorough check-up, but nothing serious was found - it took him a very long time to get back here - we would have fetched him if we knew what was happening. He is a good neighbour, and we want to keep him well !
The weather for our drive wasn't too good, and we are just hoping it won't be a problem here tomorrow.
Lots of love to you and everyone from Angie and(even more handsome)Zola xxxxxxxxxxxx

It’s ok here at the moment, getting a bit windy but last night it was a bit rough. I thought Darragh had arrived early!
Would you believe it, tomorrow we are going to my nieces secret 40th birthday party in a marquee in their garden! I just hope it’s well secured & doesn't collapse. It’s not until the afternoon but preparations will be taking place in the morning whilst she is out. Been told to wear warm clothing….not really looking forward to it 😆

Good morning everyone and Sue @MoggyMad,

I hope you are all okay and especially Angie and handsome Zola in this weather and also Richard. I just have to tell you all about last night. You all know that there is a railway line behind that the flat and Storm Darragh was just beginning to lash and yet there appeared a steam train! Complete with old fashioned lights and a tumbling sound! It was a rather exciting to see!

Keep safe

Natrah, Sleeping Beauty and Angel Daisy

PS: I hope Tom is okay.

Sounds very atmospheric! For any children seeing it…..it was the Santa Express. The reindeer & sleigh were blown off course in the storm so Santa took the train!

Good evening everyone!

I hope you're all okay after the storm. It's trying to whip up again here. Sue are you planning a trip on a similar train again? Angie how's everything where you are and I hope Tom's okay? Edward and Chef how is the weather where you are and Edward how was Independence Day? I am watching a lovely wildlife programme about reindeer in Finland.

I can't imagine Zola going out today but I can imagine him getting a long stroke. I only had one pupil today and then I came back and did quite a bit of cleaning. That Xmas decoration was only £2.99 from the Range and I have always liked snow gloves. It sits on Jacky's fridge and is waiting for the other decorations.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Sue @MoggyMad, Chef and @The_Four_Toed_Edward,

I was concerned about Angie but I tapped @zolasmum and it seems she was on at 1.15 pm so she should be okay.

Goodnight

Nothing planned but we’ll see next year.
It’s still quite windy here but only drizzling. Thankfully no flooding that we know of.
The party went ahead in the marquee. It went well despite the front coming loose & flapping about wildly.
It was quite cold though so we only stayed about 2 & a half hours. All the children had a great time. I don’t think it was much of a secret though as the marquee was put up yesterday so my niece would have seen it there in the garden! Anyway she pretended not to know what was going on & came down to the marquee when called & was greeted by loads of poppers going off. Loads of food provided by caterers & a big birthday cake & cupcakes made by her mum in law. I think she enjoyed the occasion.
